Meet the Members of the Ohio Valley Museum Consortium
 
Founded in 2006, the OVMC is a group of non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting and preserving history in the tri-state area of the Upper Ohio Valley. All member organizations are committed to working together to provide visitors with informative and interesting tours and programs.

Historic Fort Steuben
A reconstructed Fort on its original site overlooking the Ohio River, Historic Fort Steuben provides tours and educational programs. Located within Fort Steuben Park in downtown Steubenville, Ohio, the Fort also offers an archaeological dig, a Visitors Center, a Museum Shop, Veterans Memorial Fountain, and the Berkman Amphitheater where summer concerts are presented.

First Federal Land Office
         
Adjacent to the site is the First Federal Land Office. Opened in 1801 for new settlers in the Ohio country to register their deeds, this is the First Federal Land Office of the United States. When you enter the doorway of this log structure, you step into a scene from the early history of our country. Antique furnishings and early documents provide a sense of history for the visitor. The Land Office is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jefferson County Historical Association Museum and Library
 
 The Sharpe Mansion is now the home of the Jefferson County Historical Association Museum and the Vivian Snyder Genealogy Library. The elegant nineteen room home contains period furniture and artifacts including the Presidential Room, the Celebrity Room and the Military Room. Knowledgeable docents conduct tours and provide information by request.

The Wellsville Historical Society and
River Museum
 
 Located in a house above the Ohio River built in 1870 by Dr. John Hammond, the Wellsville Historical Society has numerous displays of vintage clothing, toys, railroad memorabilia and documents of Jefferson County, Ohio in its eleven rooms. Behind the house is The Old Country Store and Gift Shop, the Firehouse Museum, and a restored PRR Caboose. Tours available upon request.

 Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame
 

          
The Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame is a motivational museum that was established in 1998 to recognize outstanding individuals and preserve the cultural heritage of the area. Displays also celebrate the achievements of East Liverpool's favorite son, legendary football coach Lou Holtz.

Pleasant Hill School House Project
             
The Pleasant Hill School House Project is committed to restoring and developing the only 19th century brick school house still standing in Jefferson County, Ohio. Located on St. Rt. 213, the School House will one day offer modern students the opportunity to experience the education offered in a one-room school. Donations are being collected as restoration work currently is ongoing.

Tri-State Black History Museum
The Tri-State Black History Museum provides displays and exhibits to the area highlighting the achievements of African Americans.

Hancock County Historical Museum
       
 
Standing proudly above the Ohio River in New Cumberland, West Virginia, the Marshall House is now the site of the Hancock County Historical Museum. In its Victorian rooms, you can imagine the day-to- day life of the vibrant and prosperous family that lived here when it was constructed in 1887. The Museum welcomes individuals and groups with reservations to tour the home and its varied furnishings.

Campbell Mansion in Historic Bethany
 
 
Alexander Campbell, a Scots-Irish immigrant, was a prominent 19th century religious figure and educational innovator. His beautiful home was built in stages between 1792 and 1840 and offered religion and southern hospitality to many prominent Americans of the time. The Campbell Mansion is a National Historic Landmark and features a schoolroom, gardens, and Campbell's Hexagonal brick study. It is adjacent to the Renner Visitor Center and Bethany College.

Brooke County Historical Museum
 
 
 
Housed in an original 1797 tavern and inn, located beside the old Wellsburg Wharf on the Ohio River, the county museum strives to preserve and present Brooke County from its founding over 200 years ago. Within its walls are displays featuring the early industries of the county: glass, coal, steel, as well as agriculture. Tours of this unique building will take you back to the frontier days of the area.

Tri-State Genealogical & Historical Society
 
   
 
For those seeking family history in Ohio, West Virginia or Pennsylvania, the Tri-State Genealogical and Historical Society offers a wealth of material. Books, CD's, and several computers on-line are resources available to those tracing their family trees. Books and postcards are for sale as well.

 Jefferson County Chapter
Ohio Genealogical Society
 
               
The chapter was formed December 1986 to support the objectives of the Ohio Genealogical Society by creating and building interest in the collection and preservation of historical and genealogical records of Jefferson County, Ohio and the related areas of the Ohio Valley. This chapter takes an active part in the collection of records and helps make them available for use by the public.

Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center          
               
The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center is located in downtown Weirton and dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the area for future generations. The building houses displays that trace the history of Weirton. The organization also sponsors events celebrating the traditions of the multi-ethnic community.
